The 'Bittenbysharks' logo is an original drawing by Dominique Serafini
Dominique has spent his life driven by his two passions- the sea and his art. Born in Paris, France in 1946, he studied painting at l'Ecole National Superieure des Beaux Arts de Paris from 1966-68. His most important body of work was created on board the Calypso (of Cousteau fame) as underwater illustrator and writer for L'Equipe Cousteau. From 1982 to 1997, he created 17 animated books for children inspired by Jacques Cousteau's expeditions around the world. Carrying a strong ecological theme, this collection has been translated into ten different languages and is distributed worldwide.
Since the death of Cousteau, Dominique has returned to his true passion of painting underwater sealife and shipwrecks of the world, and has captured them on canvas. His sealife and coral reef acrylic series captured the world's most beautiful reefs.
In 2006, Dominique brought his painterly skills to the 'Dreamwrecks' project. With his partner Catherine Salisbury he has explored asnd searched for the most spectacular shipwrecks of the world.
Claudia and Leon had the pleasure of working with Catherine and Dominique in the Bahamas, during the shooting of 'Dreamwrecks'. They served as marine co-ordinators, and were interviewed for their experiences with sharks, particularly their 'bites'.
While listening to their 'shark bite' stories, Dominique began to sketch.
